Area of Recognition: Legal Malpractice Defense
Education: Mr. Perkin obtained his Juris Doctorate from Harvard University in 1975. During law school, he was the Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal, 1974-1975, and President of Harvard International Law Society, 1974-1975. Mr. Perkin obtained his Bachelors of Arts in History from the University of Michigan, with distinction, high honors in 1972.
Area of Recognition: Mr. Perkin has been recognized in 2006 and 2007 as one of the “Best Lawyers” in the area of Legal Malpractice, both by the American Lawyer, as well as the Honolulu Magazine.
Mr. Perkin is the senior member of the law firm of Perkin & Faria. Perkin & Faria is a boutique civil litigation firm, with an emphasis on complex and contentious cases. His practice consists of civil litigation, primarily at the trial level, for both the plaintiff and defense.
On the Plaintiff’s side, Mr. Perkin has obtained multi-million dollar recoveries for both individual and class action clients. He has also obtained defense verdicts in cases ranging from legal malpractice to interference with contract where the Plaintiffs were seeking damages up to $150 million dollars.
Mr. Perkin has substantial skills in Vietnamese, and is familiar with a number of other languages. His practice has included representation of numerous foreign clients, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Singaporean, Indonesian, and Vietnamese individuals and entities.
Mr. Perkin is a member of the Hawaii and American Bar Associations, was admitted to Hawaii state and federal courts in 1975, and in 1982 to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. Mr. Perkin acts as an arbitrator for the First Circuit Court Annexed Arbitration Program.
